Are you passionate about plant science, eager to connect with industry professionals and academics, or simply curious about the latest innovations in the field? If so, the annual UF Plant Science Symposium is an event you won’t want to miss. This symposium provides an unparalleled space to learn, share, and grow—whether you’re an undergraduate student, graduate student, or seasoned researcher.
Here’s what makes this event so impactful, as told by previous attendees:
An Opportunity to Grow as a Researcher
One attendee shared how attending the symposium at different stages of their academic career was transformative:
“I’ve attended the event twice before—first as an undergraduate student and then as a first-year Ph.D. student. During my time as an undergraduate, presenting my research and getting feedback from UF faculty played a big role in preparing me for my transition into a Ph.D. program. Connecting with faculty and hearing their insights helped me grow as a researcher and science communicator.”
A Hub for Networking and Collaboration
The symposium is more than just a conference—it’s a vibrant networking platform that brings together people from across the plant science community. As another attendee explained:
“People can interact with undergrads, graduate students, postdocs, faculty, industry researchers, and more. The topics are very diverse, like breeding, conservation, plant biotechnology, and plant pathology.”
Attendees have opportunities to learn about internships and jobs, as well as to engage with peers and professionals from universities and companies across the country.
Beyond the Talks: Fun, Food, and Friendship
The UF Plant Science Symposium isn’t just about presentations and posters—it’s also designed to be fun and interactive. From plant science trivia to networking over free food, there’s something for everyone. One attendee described it as:
“Innovative, collaborative, and fun. Beyond the professional talks and student poster competition, the free food, plant science trivia, and social mixer are always a highlight!”
