Career Trek: Anheuser-Busch and Johnson & Johnson Vision

Exploring Careers with Industry Giants: UF Students Visit Anheuser-Busch and Johnson & Johnson Vision

Earlier this semester, a group of University of Florida students embarked on a Career Trek to Jacksonville, where they had the unique opportunity to visit two global industry leaders: Anheuser-Busch and Johnson & Johnson Vision.

Representing a wide range of majors—including Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, Microbiology, and Computer Science—these students explored how their academic experiences connect to real-world careers in manufacturing, technology, and healthcare.

Stop 1: Anheuser-Busch – Behind the Scenes of a Beverage Icon

The day began with a behind-the-scenes tour of the Anheuser-Busch facility, where students witnessed the scale, precision, and innovation behind one of the world’s most iconic beverage brands. From brewing to packaging, the tour offered a firsthand look at the complexity of large-scale operations.

Following the tour, students participated in a panel discussion featuring UF alumni now working at Anheuser-Busch. Panelists shared their career journeys, offered insights into a typical day on the job, and reflected on what it’s like to work for a company with both a rich legacy and a forward-thinking culture.

Midday Recharge: Lunch & Reflection

The group paused for a casual lunch at the St. Johns Travel Center, giving students a chance to reflect on the morning’s experiences, connect with peers, and prepare for the next stop.

Stop 2: Johnson & Johnson Vision – Innovation in Action

In the afternoon, students arrived at Johnson & Johnson Vision, where they were welcomed with a presentation from the Human Resources team. The session highlighted the company’s mission, values, and the many career pathways available within the organization.

A guided tour of the facility followed, showcasing the cutting-edge technology and processes behind J&J’s vision care products. The visit concluded with table talks, which were small group conversations with J&J Vision employees and UF alumni. These sessions gave students the chance to ask questions, receive career advice, and build meaningful professional connections.

A Meaningful Experience, Powered by Partnership

This Career Trek was more than a field trip. It was a powerful example of experiential learning in action. Students left with a deeper understanding of industry expectations, a clearer vision of their career possibilities, and new connections with professionals who once stood where they are now.

We are incredibly grateful to Jeff Jenkins, Kelly Bundalo, Paul Madson, Kait Brown, and their teams for their hospitality and generosity. Their willingness to share time, insights, and encouragement made a lasting impact on our students.

Looking Ahead

As part of the UF Career Connections Center, we’re proud to create opportunities that connect students with alumni, employers, and real-world experiences.

This is what it looks like when classroom learning meets career exploration. And it’s just the beginning.

Where will we go next? Stay tuned.
It’s great to be a Florida Gator.
