Spring courses at SPOHP

Attention UF undergraduates! Applications are open for SPOHP’s Spring 2026 internship. This hands-on, for-credit experience introduces students to the practice and ethics of oral history, including interview techniques, transcription, and community-based research. Interns will contribute to ongoing projects, gaining valuable archival and fieldwork skills. Selected students will be eligible for the $250 Alvarez Family Scholarship.

Interested in learning how to record, interpret, and preserve stories? Enroll in AMH 3593: Oral History this spring with SPOHP director Dr. Jamin Wells! This undergraduate course offers an introduction to oral history theory and practice, including interviewing methods, ethics, preservation, and public interpretation. Students will gain firsthand experience conducting interviews and contributing to the Gainesville Healers Oral History Project. No prior experience is necessary.
