Before the Fair

1. Know who’s attending
Review the employer list in advance and identify 5–10 organizations you’re excited about.

2. Update your resume
Make sure your resume is polished, error-free, and tailored to the roles you want using Quinnica.

3. Prepare your introduction
Practice a short (30–60 second) introduction that includes:

  • Your name
  • Your major or area of focus
  • What roles you’re seeking
  • A key strength or experience

Access more tips in the Professional Introduction (Elevator Pitch) Guide.

4. Dress professionally
The fair may be virtual, but dressing for success is still important. Choose an outfit that helps you feel confident and that is appropriate for the industry or roles you are interested in. Visit the Molm Family Career Closet to access free professional clothing.

5. Test Your Technology & Set Up
Plan ahead to mitigate any last minute stress. Make sure you have a quiet area free of distractions. Check your lighting and consider nearby outlets in case you need to plug in your laptop.

During the Fair

1. Make a strong first impression
Smile, make eye contact, and start with your introduction.

2. Ask thoughtful questions
Examples:

  • “What qualities are you looking for in candidates right now?”
  • “What does success look like in this role?”

3. Take notes
Write down key details after each conversation to help with follow-ups.

4. Be open and flexible
You may discover opportunities you hadn’t considered. Stay curious.

After the Fair

1. Follow up within 24–48 hours
Send a short thank-you email or LinkedIn message to recruiters you connected with. Mention something specific from your conversation.

2. Apply to roles
Submit applications as soon as possible while you’re still fresh in the employer’s mind.

3. Reflect on your experience
What went well? What would you improve for next time?
