Gain Hands-On Experience Through UF’s Active Learning Program (ALP)

Looking for an internship or research experience for Summer 2026 or Fall 2026 that helps you build real-world skills while earning academic credit? The Active Learning Program (ALP) may be the perfect opportunity for you.

What Is the Active Learning Program?

The Active Learning Program (ALP) is a one-semester experiential learning program that connects motivated undergraduate students with UF faculty and community mentors on meaningful internship and research projects. These projects may be in-person, remote, or hybrid, giving you flexibility while gaining hands-on experience.

Students accepted into ALP enroll in the 3‑credit IDS4940 Active Learning Program course, where you will:

  • Gain mentored internship or research experience
  • Strengthen key personal and professional skills
  • Explore career interests through applied learning
  • Build your resume with a university-recognized experience

Course Format & Schedule

  • Summer 2026: Course sessions held online
  • Fall 2026: Course meets in person on Wednesdays, periods 8–9

No matter the format, you’ll be supported throughout the semester as you reflect on your experience and connect it to your academic and career goals.

How to Explore Opportunities & Apply

ALP offers a variety of internship and research projects across disciplines. You can learn more about available opportunities and the application process here on the website:
