Looking for Something Cool to Do Thursday Night? Check Out Convergence 🎮🎨

If you’re going to be on campus this Thursday evening—or need a fun reason to stick around—you won’t want to miss Convergence, the Digital Worlds Institute’s annual showcase of student work.

Convergence takes place on Thursday, April 23, from 5:30–8:00 PM in the UF Reitz Union Grand Ballroom, and it’s one of the most creative, interactive events happening on campus this spring.

So, what is Convergence? It’s an end‑of‑year, gallery‑style showcase where students in Digital Arts and Sciences present the projects they’ve been working on all year. This includes everything from 3D animations and games to UX design projects and immersive media experiences. Whether you’re into tech, art, gaming, or just love seeing cool student work, there’s something here for you.

This year’s event is especially exciting because the Digital Worlds Institute is celebrating its 25th anniversary, making Convergence both a showcase and a celebration.

Convergence also attracts serious attention beyond UF. Each year, more than 700 attendees come through, including professionals from industry, academia, and the broader community. Past attendees include representatives from major companies like Electronic Arts (Madden Football), Activision‑Microsoft, Nintendo, and more. If you’re curious about creative careers—or just want to see what industry‑level work looks like—this is a great opportunity to explore and ask questions.

Why you should go:

  • Explore cutting‑edge student projects in a hands‑on, gallery setting
  • Get inspired by career paths in gaming, animation, UX, and digital media
  • Network with students, faculty, and industry professionals
  • Celebrate 25 years of innovation at the Digital Worlds Institute

The event is free, but RSVP is required.
