Stop #1: Mayo Clinic Jacksonville
Mayo Clinic Jacksonville will provide students with an immersive healthcare career exploration experience designed specifically for UF STEM students. This visit offers a unique opportunity to gain firsthand insight into both clinical and non-clinical healthcare careers while learning about the many pathways available within the healthcare industry.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- Take a guided tour of Mayo Clinic’s Simulation Center
- Participate in interactive career exploration stations
- Connect with healthcare professionals from Nursing, Radiology, Respiratory Therapy, Laboratory Services, and Computer Science
- Explore both clinical and non-clinical healthcare career options
- Learn about education requirements, training opportunities, and career pathways within healthcare
- Build professional connections through networking with industry experts
Through hands-on learning experiences and conversations with professionals across a variety of disciplines, students will discover how their academic backgrounds can translate into meaningful and impactful careers in healthcare. Stop #2: Johnson & Johnson Vision
Our second stop will take us to Johnson & Johnson Vision’s Jacksonville campus, the global hub for the research, development, and manufacturing of ACUVUE® contact lenses.
This site showcases how healthcare innovation intersects with engineering, robotics, materials science, and advanced manufacturing technologies. Students will have the chance to:
- Explore careers in biomedical engineering, research and development, quality, and automation
- Hear from professionals driving innovation in global healthcare
- Learn about internship and full-time employment opportunities
- Gain insight into how technology and science are used to develop products that improve eye health worldwide
