ALA is seeking student freelance writers to gain hands-on experience by contributing original, engaging, and well-researched articles for our bi-monthly Military Commerce Magazine. Writers will explore topics such as military commissaries and exchanges, foodservice, lodging, base support operations, and the broader military quality-of-life community — an opportunity to build your portfolio while learning about a unique industry.
Responsibilities:
- Write clear, compelling, and accurate articles ranging from 500–1,500 words.
- Conduct interviews with subject matter experts, ALA members, and military officials (when needed).
- Develop story ideas in collaboration with the editorial team or work from assigned briefs.
- Ensure factual accuracy and adherence to ALA editorial standards.
- Meet established deadlines and respond promptly to edits and feedback.
- Submit accompanying visuals, data, or sidebars when applicable.
