Organization Description

Naples Botanical Garden is a 170-acre world-class paradise, featuring the flora and cultures of the tropics and sub-tropics including Brazil, the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, and Florida. The Garden’s mission is to connect people and plants through display, education, conservation, and applied science. The Garden has beautifully restored native habitats, cultivated gardens, walking trails, and public programming that offer education and enjoyment for people of all ages. Naples Botanical Garden is a 501(c)3 organization.

 

Position Summary: This is a full-time Staff Accountant position that performs the administration, reporting, tracking and compliance of Garden grants, contracts, MOU’s and Capital/Fixed Asset projects.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contract and Grant Management
    • Logs and tracks all grants, contracts and MOUs for the Garden. Maintains a calendar of terms and conditions, notifying interested parties of auto-renewals and terminations at least 60 days in
    • Is responsible for budgetary compliance, expense tracking, payment/re-imbursement invoicing, and reconciliation of revenue versus expense. Performs the reconciliation to the general
    • Is responsible for regulatory compliance that includes but is not limited to providing grantors and funders with Garden forms such as Tax-Exempt certificate and 501c3 designation letter; collaborates with HR to maintain insurance and personnel compliance; ensures all certifications, documents, and reporting are maintained and submitted on
    • Collaborate with program staff to produce the required outcomes
    • Provides Grant Writer with the necessary financial and administrative information needed for funding requests and
  • Capital Projects and Fixed Assets
    • Tracks and maintains status reports of all Garden capital projects, to include request, approval, budget, expenses, contributions, payments, change orders, additions, and disposals.
    • Maintains the fixed asset register and reconciliation to the General ledger.
    • Collaborates with Garden staff to ensure all projects are on schedule and
    • Reconciles payment requests against budget and
  • Compliance Support
    • Provides support on Garden-wide insurance and reporting
    • Performs the reconciliation for expenses and balance sheet related to insurance reporting.
  • Department Support
    • Duties may include supporting A/P and purchase card entry, entering month-end journal entries, running and distributing month-end reports, reconciliations, and other duties as
    • Perform financial analysis variances and assist with financial modelling.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration, preferred.
  • 2 – 4 years’ experience with similar
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel proficiency required, pivot table, formulas, )
  • Knowledge of Sage Intacct software highly
  • Understanding of import/export of csv
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to use standard office equipment (copier, scanner, ).
  • Work is primarily sedentary in nature, no special demands are
  • Advanced understanding of usual business practices and GAAP rules and
  • Excellent attention to
  • Organized, able to prioritize and manage time effectively, able to work
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and accurately both orally and in
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with other staff, clients, vendors and the public.
  • High level of accuracy and good proofing
