Overview

The Strategic Content Manager will lead the development and execution of strategic, data-driven content programs in partnership with association clients. This role combines editorial expertise, client relationship management, and digital-first thinking to craft multi-channel content strategies that engage audiences, deliver measurable results, and drive revenue.

The Strategic Content Manager will serve as a key advisor to clients, guiding content strategy and providing insights for both current and future projects and will be responsible for overseeing the fulfillment of clients’ print and digital communication products. The role requires a blend of creativity, organization, and strategic thinking, with a focus on enhancing the client’s content portfolio and driving engagement and revenue.

Responsibilities

  • Consultative Client Relationship
    • Serve as the primary editorial point of contact for association clients, maintaining a strong, collaborative relationship through regular meetings and strategic touchpoints.
    • Provide expert advice on content strategy, industry trends, and innovative solutions to meet clients’ evolving needs.
    • Contribute to client and company revenue generation by aligning content strategy with broader sales and marketing goals.
  • Content Strategy & Execution
    • Lead the creation of overarching content strategies for multiple products, ensuring alignment with client goals, target audiences, and digital-first best practices.
    • Audit account content products, advise and assist clients with reader surveys, and provide analysis and insights to inform strategy and identify new content opportunities.
    • Use data analysis and digital insights to drive content decisions and optimize the user experience in order to increase member recruitment, engagement, and retention and to increase revenue.
  • Editorial Planning & Oversight
    • Oversee the editorial calendar and integrated planning for all client projects, ensuring timely delivery and quality execution.
    • Schedule projects, communicate deadlines to clients and freelancers, and keep projects on schedule by working closely with internal teams, freelancers, and clients.
    • Manage the assignment, coordination, and oversight of content production, from concept to final delivery.
    • Provide final signoff on editorial packages, ensuring content aligns with client goals and standards.
    • Aggregate and edit newsletter content, advise clients on best practices for newsletter engagement, and coordinate newsletter redesigns as needed.
  • Design Leadership & Content Repurposing
    • Lead the creative direction for content design across projects, working with design teams to ensure the visual execution aligns with strategic objectives.
    • Repurpose content for multiple formats, optimizing for digital platforms first and then leveraging for print or other mediums.
  • Industry Research & Continuous Improvement
    • Maintain up-to-date industry knowledge and track trends to make strategic recommendations for improving content and overall client strategy.
    • Build relationships with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure content is informed, relevant, and thought-leading within the industry.
  • Cost & Resource Management
    • Monitor editorial and production costs for each project, identifying opportunities for cost savings and improved efficiency.
    • Ensure the acquisition and proper licensing of images.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in content strategy, editorial management, or a related client-facing role.
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field (e.g., Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English, Media Studies).
  • Proven ability to develop and execute integrated content strategies based on client needs and company goals.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong project management skills; able to manage multiple content projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and deliverables and to hold clients, freelancers, and outsource vendors accountable for agreed-upon deadlines and deliverables.
  • Proficient in content sourcing/aggregation, copyediting, and proofreading, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 Suite.
  • Familiarity with analytics tools and a data-driven approach to measuring content performance.
  • Familiarity with editorial AI tools (e.g., content repurposing, outlining, editing, SEO optimization).
  • Experience with associations or B2B publishing preferred.

The preferred candidate for this position can be either remote or hybrid to our Gainesville and Alpharetta offices.
