Essential Functions
- Creates a warm, welcoming environment in the Learning Lab for students, parents, faculty, and staff
- Meets weekly with the Student Services Counselors
- Accepts feedback from the Director of Student Services and the Head of Lower School
- Maintains confidentiality and student integrity
- Provides direct service to students in need of support, as determined through educational testing, recommendations of a licensed professional, and/or referral from a teacher or Student Services; understands psycho-educational evaluations and uses them to inform instructional goals
- Provides support through small pull-out groups and by classroom push-in
- Works closely and collaboratively with other Student Services personnel, faculty, and outside professionals (ex., psychologists, speech-language pathologists, etc.) to identify and support students with learning differences/needs
- Facilitates implementation of academic accommodations based on recommendations in psycho-educational testing reports, demonstrated needs, and educational plans
- Maintains learning profiles for students based upon related accommodation recommendations and develops detailed lesson objectives for these students that align with their learning profiles and demonstrated needs; composes reports as needed
- Acts as a resource for faculty in developing and implementing strategies and accommodations to compensate for learning deficits and helps coordinate their delivery.
- Communicates effectively with parents and teachers in a timely manner regarding students relative to identification, progress monitoring, and assessment results; leads parent meetings to discuss learning objectives and strategies
- Responsible for connecting students with faculty one-on-one private tutors
- Provides ongoing support and training to faculty regarding such things as differentiated instruction, universal design, and other strategic interventions
- Creates systems that aid all students in executive functioning and organizational skills
- Models and reinforces the Lower School Code of Conduct and Benjamin Values
- Attends faculty meetings, grade-level meetings, orientations, Open House, Back to School Night, and other school-wide events
- Completes all work and assigned tasks in a timely, efficient, accurate, and organized manner
- Performs other duties as assigned
