The Global Conservatory is a live online conservatory. Students study one-to-one with professional musicians working across 14 countries and every time zone – lessons, masterclasses and studio classes across performance, composition, conducting, drama and dance, alongside certificate programmes in jazz, audio engineering, electronic production, vocal pedagogy, Suzuki and Orff teacher training, music business and music technology.
The Global Conservatory is a sister company of The Musicians Club, a US importer of instruments and sheet music trading directly with makers in Czechia, Japan, Spain, Germany and China. The two operate under the same ownership, and interns see both.
The school is built. The faculty, the catalogue, the programmes, the platform and the code are all in place. What it does not yet have is a team running it day to day – and that is honestly why this posting exists. You would not be shadowing a department that already works. You would be helping stand one up.
THE ROLE
Own the numbers for a real, small, international business – and be the person who can answer, without guessing, what a lesson costs us and what it earns.
You would build and maintain the monthly picture: revenue by programme and by division, faculty payouts, platform and payment fees, refunds and cancellations, and what is left. You would work out unit economics per lesson and per certificate track, so pricing stops being instinct. You would build a simple cash forecast the founder can trust week to week, reconcile payment processor payouts against enrolments, and flag – early and loudly – anything that is quietly bleeding.
WHAT YOU WOULD LEARN
Multi-currency operations, cross-border payouts to faculty in fourteen countries, subscription and package revenue recognition, and the difference between a business that looks profitable and one that is. You will build the reporting yourself rather than inherit it, which is both harder and far more instructive.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
Precision, and the nerve to present an unwelcome number without softening it. Reconciliation work is unglamorous and it is where the truth lives.
THE TERMS, STATED PLAINLY
This internship is unpaid. We are a small organisation and we will not dress that up. There is no stipend and no guarantee of paid work afterwards. If the school grows into something that can pay people, this cohort is who we would ask first – but that is an intention, not an offer, and you should decide as if it will never happen.
Academic credit: eligible and encouraged. Tell us what your department requires – supervisor forms, learning contracts, hour logs, mid-term and final evaluations – and we will complete it properly and on time.
Hours: 4-5 hours a day, Monday to Friday, about 20-25 hours a week, remote. The team works together: a fixed 30-minute meeting every weekday morning (Eastern) that everyone attends, and working sessions through the day rather than in isolation. If your class schedule collides with part of that, tell us and we will place your hours around it.
Term: 14 weeks, Fall 2026, with a defined end date. Continuing into Spring is possible and entirely optional on both sides.
You will be taught. A named supervisor meets you weekly one-to-one. You get written feedback at week 7 and week 14, and a reference either way.
Where you would work: fully remote, anywhere in the United States.
HOW TO APPLY
Submit your CV through this posting. A short cover note is welcome but not required – one honest paragraph on why this rather than a bigger name beats a page of formatting. We reply to everyone who applies.
