Why Reflection Matters

Thoughtful reflections help potential employers, alumni, and instructors see where and how you’re growing. They also let you analyze your learning, identify strengths and areas for improvement, and set realistic goals. Plus, they show your ability to think critically and learn from experience – qualities that are key for personal and professional growth. Developing this habit fosters lifelong learning and self-improvement.

  1. Meet the Length Requirement: Write 3-5 complete sentences to provide enough detail while keeping your response concise and focused.
  2. Address the Prompt: Make sure your reflection fully answers all parts of the prompt.
  3. Applications to Personal Growth: Show how the activity or experience connects to your personal development, goals or skill-building journey. Use specific examples to illustrate what you’ve learned or how you plan to use these insights.
  4. Evidence of Engagement: Avoid vague language. Your responses should demonstrate that you’ve engaged in the activity.
  5. Be Clear and Thoughtful: Use clear language and proper grammar. Thoughtful responses demonstrate critical thinking, self-awareness, and a commitment to learning.

After completing CHOMP and exploring the top occupations that align with my work interests, values, and personality, I was surprised to see Business Professor as a top result. While this career helps people through teaching and mentoring, it doesn’t align with my values of helping society more directly, which is why roles like Community Welfare Worker and Field Health Officer felt like a better fit. Reviewing the results showed me how diverse my options are, spanning education, healthcare, and social services, but it also left me feeling unsure about how to narrow down my choices. To move forward, I plan to meet with a C3 coach to create a plan for exploring these options and selecting a major that aligns with my long-term goals
