Gregory is a pharmacy consultant based out of Harrisburg, PA. He shares with us the secrets of keeping his clients satisfied as well as urges students and entry-level pharmacists to get as much experience as possible before considering a career in pharmacy consulting.

>> My name is Gregory Shaefer. I am a pharmacy consultant. A typical day is really, I'm not sure there is a typical day, but in consulting practice, most of ours has been focused on hospital and health systems. So, we're looking at pharmacy operations, pharmacy clinical support, financial support. And so, it is meeting with clients, interviewing clients and developing ideas, thoughts and recommendations for improvement of pharmacy services. Both clinically, as well as economically. You know a lot of our consulting's spend a fair amount of time traveling. So, it is a lot of airline travel, which can be somewhat challenging and hectic. But a typical -- let me kind of start with a typical week. You'll generally leave on a Monday. You're at client sites Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. And Thursday evening, you know, return home. A typical day, well at the client site is generally starts between seven and eight o'clock, we'll got to four or five. And then depending upon the nature and size and scope of the project, there will be conferences with colleagues and team members or begin to assemble either additional insights, questions or begin to formulate ideas and recommendations and conclusions from your interviews. So, depending upon where it is within the scope of the consulting engagement, it will vary.
