Mentorship

Mentorship is an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge from an experienced individual. These interactions provide educational and professional development connections that can enhance your industry knowledge or career preparation. Mentorship practices vary, but the most important facet is the relationship created between mentor and mentee. Mentorship can be short term or long term, through a formal setting (i.e. coordinated through a program) or informal conversations. This is a great way to build your network and develop professionally in an industry or occupation.

Benefits of Mentorship

  • MORE ENGAGED-College graduates are almost two times more likely to be engaged at work if they had a mentor who encouraged them to pursue their goals and dreams.”
  • JOB PLACEMENT-Involvement in college mentoring programs improves job placement rates by allowing students to gain a better understanding of the career paths available.
  • CREATES COMMUNITY-Mentoring allows students to “feel more connected to their school and creates a community culture that is rewarding and engaged.”
