WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BUSINESS PROFESSIONAL AND BUSINESS CASUAL ATTIRE?
Business Professional – Think of what you would wear to an interview or in a conservative work environment such as accounting, financing, or organizations that have very strict dress codes. Typically with business professional attire, you are wearing a full pant, dress, or skirt suit. Dress shoes and ties are mandatory.
Business Casual – This is where things can get a little tricky. Every employer has a different definition of business casual, depending on where you work you will depend on the type of items you can wear. Business casual is typically what you would wear to work every day. This includes slacks or khakis, dress shirt or blouse, open-collar or polo shirt, optional tie or seasonal sport coat, a dress or skirt at knee-length or below, a tailored blazer, knit shirt or sweater, and loafers or dress shoes. However, the leniency with the casual aspect depends on the employer.
If you have questions about what attire is more appropriate for your interview or first day at a new job, please visit us in the Career Closet, or email CareerCloset@ufsa.ufl.edu.
HOW TO SUPPORT THE MOLM FAMILY CAREER CLOSET
Together, let’s empower UF students to dress for success, equipping them with the confidence and resources they need to excel in their chosen career pathways. Your support can make a significant impact on their journey to a successful future! Virtual tax receipts are available to donors – please email email@example.com to request one.
If you are interested in donating, our areas of greatest need are the following: Suits, blazers, dress pants, professional skirts, dresses, heels, dress shoes, flats, belts, ties, blouses, cardigans, and button-down shirts. We especially need smaller sizes for both masculine and feminine styles.
Since its inception, the Career Closet has helped over 2,457 students annually with professional clothing needs.
Students who utilize the Career Closet are able to receive up to one full professional clothing outfit per semester. Your help in keeping our inventory stocked is greatly appreciated.
The Molm Family Gator Career Closet accepts donations of new and gently used professional clothing and accessories. Please ensure all donations come to the Closet clean, washed, or dry cleaned. Clothes can arrive at the Closet for donation during regular closet hours. To donate, bring your gently used, neatly folded clean clothes in an open bag to the front desk at the Career Connections Center, or feel free to stop by the Closet yourself and drop them off with us! We are happy to help and thankful for your donations. The Molm Family Gator Career Closet is located on the Ground Floor of the Reitz Union, with the entrance located in the breezeway outside the Wells Fargo and Reitz Union Hotel entrance.
We also accept in-kind and monetary donations to support dry-cleaning services.
