Community-Based Learning is an educational experience that occurs in a community-based setting that is intentionally designed to enrich your academic learning, nurture personal growth, and boost civic engagement. These experiences are crafted to benefit both you and the communities you serve. Community-Based Learning includes activities like volunteering, civic engagement, and service learning, and is focused on issues that are important to you and the communities you serve.

Why get involved with Community-Based Learning?

  1. Hands-On Learning: Community-Based Learning gives you practical, real-world experience, applying classroom knowledge and deepening your understanding of course material.
  2. Personal Growth: Participation challenges you to step out of your comfort zone, develop empathy, and enhance interpersonal skills through meaningful interactions.
  3. Civic Engagement: It encourages you to be an active participant in civic matters, fostering social responsibility and empowering you to make positive contributions.
  4. Professional Development: Engaging enhances your resume and skills, demonstrating commitment to service, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving valued by employers.
  5. Community Impact: You make tangible contributions, addressing real issues and positively impacting lives.
