CHOMP is an online, interactive, self-guided career and educational planning system designed to help you make decisions about your future career goals and education plans. CHOMP offers a variety of self-assessments in order to evaluate your level of career readiness and gain self-awareness.

Types of Assessments

Your personality results can give you insights into how you may prefer to interact with others, provide and receive information, make decisions, and interact with the world around you.

  • Describe the characteristics of your personality and the types of work activities that typically appeal to your personality type.
  • What did you learn about yourself through your personality self-assessment? How will these insights be helpful in your career exploration and choice of a major?
  • How well does your personality fit with your current career aspirations?

This assessment identifies your Holland Code and matches your work interests to occupations and supporting majors at UF. After completing the assessment, online reflect on the following:

  • What is your Holland Code? What are your 3 work interest areas?
  • What did you learn about yourself through your work interest self-assessment? How will these insights be helpful in your career exploration and choice of a major?
  • How well do you work interests fit with your current career aspirations?
  • From the occupation list you were given, can you identify any themes that unite the careers listed?

This assessment will give you some ideas of activities you may enjoy pursuing as hobbies, which can also indicate interests you may want to consider incorporating into a career.

  • How do your top three leisure preferences relate to occupations?
  • What did you learn about yourself through your leisure interest self-assessment? How will these insights be helpful in your career exploration and choice of a major?
  • How might your leisure interests direct the type of work you would enjoy?

Your values results will help you identify what is most important to you in a career.

  • What are your top three work values and what types of work encompass your work values?
  • What did you learn about yourself through your values self-assessment? How will these insights be helpful in your career exploration?
  • How well do your values fit with your current career aspirations?

Your skills results can help you identify your strong skills which can lead to greater job satisfaction.

  • What are your top three skills? What types of work use these skills?
  • What did you learn about yourself through your skills self-assessment? How will these insights be helpful in your career exploration and choice of a major?
  • How well do you skills fit with your current career aspirations?

Getting Started with CHOMP

Begin the assessments in any order you like. You do not need to complete them all, and you can exit and return any time you like. Each section takes about 10-15 minutes.



Analyzing and Applying your CHOMP Results

Combining the results from the previous five assessments can help you narrow your results and create a list of potential occupations. There may not be any careers that match all five of your assessments which is normal. Select any combination of assessment you wish. Examine the occupation list. Try different combinations to discover other potential careers.

  • What occupations that appear on one or more of your lists appeal to you the most? Why?
  • What information did you gain from taking the separate sections of CHOMP that you could use in your major and career exploration going forward?
