Partnering with Faculty & Staff to Integrate Career Readiness

The University of Florida Career Connections Center (C3) recognizes the critical role faculty and staff play in students’ career development. As trusted mentors and first points of contact, faculty and staff are often where career-related conversations begin. Through this vision, we also recognize that supporting student success is a shared effort across campus.

C3 partners with faculty and staff to integrate career readiness into academic and co-curricular experiences through resources, professional development, and collaborative support.

Career conversations often begin in classrooms, advising meetings, and everyday interactions with students. The Faculty & Staff Career Toolkit offers self-guided, ready-to-use resources aligned with the NACE Career Readiness Competencies to support referrals and course-connected career learning, no career expertise required.

How C3 Supports Faculty & Staff

C3 supports faculty, staff, and advisors through flexible, collaborative approaches that align with a variety of roles and contexts, including:

  • Customized workshops and presentations for classes, student organizations, and departmental programs.
  • Career-integrated assignments and learning activities that align with course goals
  • Alumni and employer engagement opportunities, such as guest speakers, panels, and project-based experiences
  • Collaboration on career-focused events and initiatives across campus
  • Consultation and resource sharing to support career conversations and referrals

Explore the resources below designed to support career conversations and planning across your work with students.

We welcome collaboration with faculty, staff, and advisors across campus and value your insights, creativity, and partnership as we support student success!

Classroom & Program Support

C3 offers flexible options to support your class or program, whether you’re present or need coverage.

Invite C3 to your class, meeting, or event for a career-focused presentation, workshop, or tabling experience when you are present. Faculty and staff can also request to bring their class to the Career Connections Center or reserve space for a class visit. Outreach opportunities are designed to introduce students to career resources and support early career conversations.

Common outreach topics include:

  • Career Services Overview
  • Career Exploration
  • Resume Building
  • Job Search Strategies
  • Interview Preparation

Unexpected schedule conflicts happen. When you’re unable to meet with your class, Don’t Cancel That Class allows C3 to step in and facilitate a hands-on career readiness session so class time remains productive and engaging. Faculty and staff may also request to bring their class to the Career Connections Center or reserve space for a class visit.

Sessions are interactive and may include guided activities such as:

  • Skill-building modules using tools like Qunnica, UF Career Insights, Career Hub, LinkedIn Learning, etc.
  • Career readiness exercises aligned with NACE Career Readiness Competencies
  • Exploration of high-impact practices (internships, research, experiential learning)
  • Introduction to campus career and experiential learning resources
  • Mock Interviews

Sessions are designed to stand alone and require no advanced preparation from faculty.
