Step into the O.R. and learn what it’s like to be a surgical tech

Welcome to the Forage Academy Surgical Tech simulation! We are excited to have you here.

Surgical technologists, often called surgical techs, are essential members of the operating room team. They work alongside surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to make sure every procedure runs smoothly and safely. From setting up instruments to maintaining the sterile field, surgical tools are a vital part of successful surgeries.

In this program, you will step into the role of a surgical tech and experience what it is like to support a surgery from start to finish. You will explore the three phases of surgery: preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative. You will also learn how a surgical tech’s role shifts at each stage and practice identifying the tools, actions, and responsibilities that keep the operating room running at its best.

By the end of this experience, you will understand how surgical techs contribute to patient care and safety. You will also strengthen your resume by demonstrating skills such as attention to detail, teamwork, and communication, while exploring whether a career in surgical technology is the right path for you.

We hope this program inspires you, challenges you, and helps you picture yourself as part of a healthcare team.

This program is self-paced. It takes approximately 1-2 hours to complete.
